The Virginia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (VACCE) announced its 2021-22 officers and directors at their Annual Membership Meeting held at the Omni Homestead in Hot Springs, VA.

The Arlington Chamber of Commerce President & CEO, Kate Bates, was named the VACCE Chair Elect for 2021-22.

During the pandemic, VACCE convened the chambers of commerce throughout the commonwealth for dialogues with Virginia's Governor and U.S. Senators to advocate for the business community.

"Our industry is an incredibly collaborative one, and I can’t think of a more supportive community than VACCE, where our chambers of commerce throughout Virginia support each other by sharing ideas and best practices," said Kate Bates. "I’m honored to be assuming the role of Chair-Elect for VACCE, following a line of tremendous leaders, including most recently Teresa Hammond and Susan Spears, and our current chair Danielle Fitz-Hugh."

Virginia Business and the Sun Gazette both reported on the announcement.

The U.S. Small Business Administration will begin sending invitations for supplemental awards for the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) program.

SVOG supplemental awards are to be provided to those who received an initial grant and have illustrated a 70% loss when comparing 2021’s first-quarter revenues to the same in 2019.

The supplemental awards also allow SVOG recipients to extend the time to use their grant funds for expenses accrued through June 30, 2022 and lengthen their budget period to 18 months from the initial grant’s disbursement date.

Overseen by the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA), TransAction is Northern Virginia’s long-range transportation plan, which identifies all kinds of multimodal approaches to address the region’s transportation needs and priorities. NVTA is in the process of updating this long-range plan.

Public engagement plays a key role in the TransAction process. NVTA invites the public to answer a survey about how to improve their regional travel experience. Your feedback will be used to help NVTA understand current transportation needs, as well as prioritize projects and investments that will improve travel throughout the region. The survey is available through next Friday, September 17.
