Wall Street Journal (9/3/21) column: "If 'news' is about how today differs from yesterday, the press missed a lot of news in the long-awaited new report from the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that was issued a few weeks ago. After 41 years of promoting a fuzzy and unsatisfying estimate of how much warming might result from a doubling of atmospheric CO2, the world’s climate science arbiter has finally offered the first real improvement in the history of modern climate science. Through five previous U.N. assessment plus their predecessor, the 1979 Charney Report, the likely worst-case was a rise of 4.5 degrees Celsius. This came from averaging the result of inconsistent computer climate simulations about which the IPCC knew only one thing: They couldn’t all be right and perhaps none were...The words most quoted in the press weren’t found in the U.N. report or even its executive summary. They were the claims of a pair of U.N. officials that the report heralded a 'code red for humanity' and, even more devoid of meaning, that 'no one is safe' from a warming planet."

Kerry: "Slave labor may be necessary if we want to save the planet!"  


Washington Examiner (9/3/21) reports: "Senior Chinese officials warned John Kerry that U.S. support for human rights threatens climate change cooperation, eliciting a pledge from President Joe Biden’s climate point-man to explain their perspective to officials in Washington. 'I will certainly pass on … the full nature of the message that I received from Chinese leaders,' former Secretary of State John Kerry, who is now Biden’s special envoy for climate change, told reporters following two days of meetings with top Chinese diplomats. 'On the one hand, we’re saying to them, "You have to do more to help deal with the climate." And on the other hand, their solar panels are being sanctioned, which makes it harder for them to sell them.' Kerry pledged to deliver that message to Biden, who tapped him as the lead U.S. diplomat for international climate policy, following two days of meetings with top Chinese officials. His interlocutors used the conversations as an opportunity to renew their demand that Biden stop condemning the Chinese Communist regime’s abuse of human rights and aggressive foreign policy before reportedly dismissing his request for cooperation."

Washington Free Beacon (9/4/21) reports: "A prominent green activist with ties to top Democrats is dodging questions about her alleged mismanagement of a bail fund that cannot account for millions of dollars in contributions. Tara Houska is the founding president of the Freshet Collective, which she established in Minnesota in 2016 to provide legal assistance for demonstrators arrested at the Dakota Access Pipeline protests. Houska, a lawyer, is a mainstay of Native American and environmental activism who advised Sen. Bernie Sanders's (I., Vt.) 2016 presidential campaign. She is slated to appear at a political event Saturday morning with members of the House's so-called Squad. Freshet's financial situation is dodgy. The sole federal tax filing available from the group indicates that just a fraction of its assets were put toward its mission in its first year of operations. Five years past its founding, it has yet to register and submit audited financial statements to Minnesota authorities, which is required by state law. Indeed, it is not even clear that Freshet is still operational, making questions about its fiscal housekeeping all the more urgent. One-time collaborators have accused the group of dishonest dealing. 'These guys are dirty. They're raising millions of dollars, but they're not representing the people,' said Duke Gomez-Schempp, a radio host and activist who assisted Freshet operations during the Dakota Access Pipeline protests."
