Dear John,

We need your help - the University of California, the state’s largest employer, has filed legal documents arguing that thousands of workers there should not have access to union rights, even though they work long hours performing cutting-edge scientific research.

This is a cynical attempt to divide and weaken the power of our new union, which represents 17,000 Student Researchers across the state. UC’s argument was filed by a law firm that lists “union avoidance” as one of their areas of expertise on their website.

Add your name today and tell UC that union busting is disgusting!

As a Student Researcher, I can tell you that many of us face pervasive discrimination and harassment at work, and we need your help today. Join us as we tell UC that their union busting tactics won’t work, and that all workers deserve the right to come together and bargain collectively to improve their lives.

“These workers perform the same work in the same labs for the same supervisors, and they are subjected to the same difficult working conditions as everyone else,” said Ray Curry, President of the UAW. “They are workers by any measure - they work long hours and contribute enormously to UC’s education and research mission. They are entitled to the same labor protections and rights as any other employee, and we will fight to ensure their rights are respected.”

Help us tell union-busting employers that when labor stands together, we stand strong. Sign the petition today.

In Solidarity,

UAW
