Congratulations to Rebecca for correctly identifying the female Blue Grosbeak (Passerina caerulea). Blue Grosbeaks are striking summer residents with their brilliant blue feathers and chestnut colored wings bars. We agree with All About Birds that the cinnamon-colored females are just as lovely! They prefer shrubby habitat for nesting and in ideal conditions can raise two broods in a season.
