Happy Labor Day, John!
Today, we honor New Mexican workers across the state and all who are advocating for workers rights.
I'm proud to lead a state where we value workers and the contributions of workforce advocates at every opportunity. Together we've been able to create good-paying jobs, build our infrastructure, and fight for our rural communities.
This Labor Day, I am reminded of the incredible sacrifices that essential workers have made throughout the pandemic. From grocery store staff to pharmacists to sanitation workers – the New Mexicans who keep our society running deserve the utmost gratitude and kindness, not just today, but every day.
Today we continue honoring the legacy of labor advocates and recommit to fighting to improve conditions for working families. That's why my administration raised the minimum wage for the first time in a decade, slashed taxes for the middle class, and supported small businesses throughout the pandemic.
Together, we're taking meaningful steps toward an inclusive economy where every New Mexican has the opportunity to work a good-paying job.
I hope you and your family have a happy and COVID-safe Labor Day.
Thank you,
Michelle Lujan Grisham
