The 23rd annual American Courage Awards was a special evening to celebrate civil rights leaders Karen Narasaki, Karen Korematsu, and Paul Lee, and honor Harvard students supporting affirmative action, Sally Chen and Jang Lee. Here's a look back at a memorable evening.
Highlights

Chanelle Hardy from Google, our Chairman's Circle sponsor, addressed VIP reception attendees, saying that we are partners in ensuring that all Americans live in a equitable society.

NBC's Cary Chow graced the American Courage Awards stage as our master of ceremonies for the second year in a row, adding his charm and humor to the entire event.

President and Executive Director John C. Yang acknowledged the hardships facing our community, but said, "I see a new dawn approaching .. and it is upon all of us to ensure that the sun comes through the clouds. That means we must engage. For census, my ask is that each of you in the audience commit to engaging at least 10 other people in this decennial effort, to make sure they understand the importance of completing the census. Engaging means talking to people in your community, including or perhaps especially, those who may not share your views."

It meant so much to us that The Honorable Norman Y. Mineta was able to take time out of his schedule to attend our event. His remarks encouraged all in attendance to continue our work as public servants.
