Folks,

Nevada workers are empowered because of our labor unions. Today, I’m thinking about the trailblazers who gave us the five day work week, worker safety standards, Social Security, paid time off, worker’s compensation, and so much more.

In recent months, we’ve seen that our workforce is on the rebound after taking a severe blow due to the pandemic. While this continues to impact so many families across Nevada and the country as a whole, I’m confident that our economy will rebound and be stronger than before.

We can thank this rebound to generations of tireless work on part of the labor movement. They’ve fought for basic rights for workers and instilled confidence in the American workforce. Labor unions have proven that when workers are cared for, our economy is stronger.

In Congress, I’ll continue to fight alongside labor unions for good-paying jobs, protected pensions, apprenticeship and vocational training, raising the minimum wage, and whatever else I can do to keep our workforce’s gears well oiled.

Enjoy your holiday, get some well-deserved rest, and keep your thanks in mind for our resilient labor movement.
