John,

This Labor Day, we pause to remember the struggle and celebrate the achievements of the labor rights movement. This movement is personal to me because my dad was a member of Retail Clerks #1179 for over 15 years.

I grew up on union benefits as a kid, so when I was elected as one of the youngest members of Congress in history, I knew I owed it to the generations of workers before me, hardworking folks like my dad, to continue fighting to advance their labor rights.

Especially over the last year when frontline workers kept us afloat during the pandemic, I am proud we passed legislation to expand paid sick leave and fight wage discrimination.

Union work is in my blood, and I’ll never stop advocating for all the workers in our community.

Today we honor the hard work and sacrifice of the labor movement and recommit to pushing for a more just and fair economy for our families.

Happy Labor Day,

Josh
