John,

Last week, Kate Raworth, author of Doughnut Economics, and Richard Benwell from Wildlife and Countryside Link joined Caroline Lucas MP to discuss how the endless pursuit of economic growth is destroying our planet and accelerating rampant inequality, and why we need an economy that moves beyond narrow definitions of financial success. Watch the recording of our event 'Nature and the economy: who speaks for the trees?' below.

The panel all agreed -- it is crucial that we shift to an economy that puts a stop to growth at the expense of our health, happiness and safety. Like Caroline Lucas said:

'This couldn’t be more urgent. We urgently need a wellbeing economy – one designed with the purpose of serving the wellbeing of people and the planet first and foremost. One that will deliver social justice on a healthy planet'.

That's why we're asking you to sign our petition. Right now, there are just three weeks left until the deadline for signatures and we need 100,000 to have it debated in Parliament. With your help, we can get there. Can you put your name down and help us call on the government to put people and planet before profit?

If you've signed already, please do share it with as many others as possible 🌎💚

In hope,

The Green Party

P.S. Want to learn more? You are warmly welcome to join Caroline Lucas and an incredible line-up of speakers at another event: Women in the Wellbeing Economy. This is taking place tomorrow Tuesday 7 September at 6pm, and you can register here.
