Folks,

I hope you’re enjoying a well-deserved day off -- I wanted to shoot you a quick email to remind you of the reason we’re celebrating today, and then I’ll be out of your hair.

Labor Day celebrates hard working Americans and the labor movement that continues to fight for workers’ rights. We can thank labor unions for our weekends, the middle class, and safe working conditions.

But we still have room for improvement when it comes to labor -- and I am fighting for these priorities in Congress.

For starters, we need to raise the federal minimum wage to that of a living wage. No American should have to work more than one job just to make ends meet and provide for their families.

So, while you’re celebrating today, remember the folks who stood (and continue to stand) on the picket lines in hopes of a better future for themselves and for you.
