Friend,
Since Labor Day was established as a federal holiday in 1894, we’ve observed it by recognizing the working people who make our country run.
From nurses who have braved the pandemic to treat the ill and teachers who set up virtual classrooms at the drop of a hat, to sanitation workers who have kept our communities clean when we needed it the most and postal workers who never stopped delivering critical mail, COVID-19 has made this Labor Day even more meaningful.
We can give thanks to essential workers and truly celebrate the spirit of Labor Day by supporting the PRO Act.
For too long, too many working people have been denied the right to join with their co-workers to have a say at their job. We all deserve the right to stand up for safe work environments, and earn the quality wages and benefits we deserve.
As working people’s strength to negotiate for improved pay and health care has eroded, income inequality has risen. It has now reached levels not seen since before the Great Depression.
History tells us there’s a better way. The steady wages, workplace security and legal protection that came from being in a union has helped generations of Americans provide a better life for their families. Let's make sure everyone has that opportunity, free from intimidation.
The PRO Act will help us build an economy that works for all working families, not just the wealthy and well-connected.
A lot of senators have already signed on, but they all need to hear from us every day (especially on Labor Day) until the vote so they know we mean business.
Write to your senators now and tell them working people say YES to the PRO Act!
In solidarity,
Sydney Roberts
