Happy Labor Day, John.

While some folks are spending the day outside or enjoying time with family, it's important to remember that today isn't just a day off. It's a day to reflect on all that the labor movement has done for us.

The labor movement has existed in our country for more than a century. In its early years, it stood between workers and exploitation and still does to this day.

Organized labor is responsible for delivering the 40-hour workweek, 8-hour workday, weekends, fair labor standards, minimum wage, and so much more. Unions have always empowered workers, including people in health care, education, the Postal Service, and more, to secure their rights.

Since March 2020, the labor movement has ensured that frontline workers fighting the COVID-19 pandemic are protected and compensated fairly. We have them to thank for so much.

Organized labor makes us strong, and I am proud to live in a country with a history of worker's rights that is so rich, but we can't take that for granted. The right to collective bargaining is still up for debate and under attack across the country.

I will always stand with workers and urge you to find ways to show your support for organized labor in your community, as well.

Thank you to union workers,

Diana
