John,

As we enjoy this holiday weekend, I'd like to take a moment to celebrate what the labor movement has contributed to our country.

From our 40-hour workweek to the minimum wage and overtime pay, the worker's rights movement has fought long and hard to win key workplace protections and standards. The activism and diligence of unions has improved living conditions and restored dignity to working folks everywhere.

But right now, unions continue to face threats from hostile anti-labor practices from employers. If we want a fair, just society for all, we must stand with workers and ensure their right to organize is protected.

This year, House Democrats passed legislation that would provide critical protections for workers trying to organize. This is a major step towards correcting wealth inequality, empowering workers, and creating a level playing field for those who have been left behind.

Only five Republicans joined Democrats in supporting the measure, highlighting how imperative it is for us to preserve and expand our House majority in 2022. Now, we need the Senate to answer the call of workers everywhere and advance this legislative milestone.

Workers keep our lights on, our roads paved, food on the shelves, and our packages delivered on time. But they must be treated with dignity and respect. That starts with ensuring workers a living wage, fair hours, and the opportunity to organize and bargain for better working conditions.

As we look to get our economy back on track in a post-COVID world, it will be more important than ever to stand with our brothers and sisters in labor. We must continue to improve conditions of gig workers, and the men and women in our factories, farms, grocery stores, hospitals, schools, restaurants, and all other fields of work.

With your ongoing support, we can keep our House majority intact and continue to fight for working families in the coming years.

Thank you for your time, John, I wish you and your family a restful Labor Day.

Best,

Suzan DelBene
