Happy Labor Day! This Labor Day Weekend I wanted to take time to recognize the efforts of workers to fight for the benefits that we enjoy. No one knew what to expect when a global pandemic started almost two years ago. So many Nevadans have suffered due to lost jobs, lost homes, lost loved ones, and so much more. Labor day is all about celebrating the contributions and achievements of workers but so many workers are still out of a decent paying job. 

Some of the Nevadans that didn’t suffer during this pandemic were the 15 billionaires that live in our state. These billionaires enjoyed a 32% increase in their wealth since March of 2020. How can these people continue to enjoy the loopholes in our tax system when so many of us are struggling?

Our storyteller Martha wrote an amazing op-ed from the perspective of an everyday Nevadan. She talks about how her family struggled while these billionaires avoided paying their taxes.
