Today, I wanted to make sure you heard directly from me.
Many of us get to enjoy this day off thanks to labor leaders who fought to recognize the achievements of the labor movement and American workers’ many contributions to our country.
My grandfather worked in an auto factory in Ohio and was a proud member of the UAW. It was because of his good job with strong wages and benefits that he was able to provide for his eight children, including my mom.
In Congress, I’m working to make sure workers in New Jersey and across the country have access to the resources and support they deserve and have earned, just like my grandfather.
That’s why I voted for the American Rescue Plan to put stimulus checks and the biggest tax cut for working families ever directly in their bank accounts and extend unemployment insurance. And it’s why I’m fighting to increase access to affordable health care.
I want to thank all of our workers -- especially the essential workers who are still making great sacrifices during the pandemic -- for all you do for our country.
