Happy Labor Day, team!

America’s workers are the backbone of our country, and good jobs are the pathway to opportunity.

For too long, those opportunities have been pushed further out of reach for far too many Americans: people willing to do the work who can’t catch a break. Our economy is fundamentally different than it was 50 years ago. Economic forces like globalization, automation, and AI have made it so.

In the wake of an economically devastating pandemic, our workforce took another hit, and NewDems stepped in to support working families by passing the American Rescue Plan, securing much-needed relief checks, expanding the Child Tax Credit, and extending unemployment benefits to workers while they get back on their feet.

Together, we’ve worked alongside President Biden to create 4,000,000 jobs in the first six months of 2021 — and we still aren’t finished yet.

The work can’t stop there. Taking smart steps to help workers compete can ensure that economic disruption doesn’t give way to economic desolation. Hard work and innovation is what we do, and America can still win the future.

This Labor Day we remember that America is home to the best workers, skilled laborers, and tradespeople in the world, and we’re proud to support them every step of the way as we work to build back better from this pandemic.
