This Labor Day we have something to celebrate and something to fight for. The good news is both the Senate and the House have passed Budget Resolutions that create the framework for passage of the Democratic Build Back Better Budget Reconciliation plan. That plan would make once-in-a-generation progress for workers and families who have been burdened for far too long with an economy and tax system that rewards corporate CEOs over everyday Americans.

The Build Back Better Budget will be a game changer for working families in Maryland and across the country. It will dramatically grow opportunity for all, cut the costs of everything from prescription drugs to child care, expand services covered by Medicare, extend the new monthly tax cuts for families with children, and dedicate much needed resources to tackle the climate crisis and create clean energy jobs.

Not surprisingly, Republicans have launched a major Super PAC disinformation campaign -- funded by big corporations -- against our historic plan. It's as disgraceful as it is predictable coming from Republicans who have proven over and over they take their cues from corporate lobbyists not the American people.

It's long past time that we had an economy that lifts up the folks who are the backbone of this country. That's exactly what our pro-worker plan does. And the Build Back Better plan will be paid for by long overdue reforms to our tax system to ensure that multinational corporations and the wealthiest of the wealthy pay their fair share.

This is a big deal, and we need everyone to push hard to win this battle and overcome the all-out blitz of corporate lobbying and the millions of dollars in ads being run to protect their sweetheart tax preferences.
