Friend,

I tend to spend Labor Day thinking about my dad. He worked tirelessly throughout his life to provide for my brother and me, and for that I’m forever grateful.

He led by example. He took pride in his work as a custodian and taught me the importance of hard work. I’m sure if he were still around he’d be so proud that his kid grew up to become the Mayor of Richmond.

On this day above all others, may we take a moment to appreciate just how much the American worker has done for our country. Happy Labor Day!
