Friend,
For many of us, this weekend is one day longer -- and for that, we thank America’s unions and the millions of working people who built this country.
This Labor Day, I especially want to recognize and thank the nurses and other health care workers who have saved countless lives under unimaginable pressure over the last 18 months.
I also want to recognize our teachers, who have had to completely reinvent their already demanding jobs, all while adapting to constantly changing policies from administrators and school districts.
Right now in Georgia, there are
more hospitalized COVID patients than at any other point in the pandemic. Across the state, COVID cases are piling up in schools. The constant school closings, fear from parents, and callous inaction from some elected leaders are putting
more pressure on our educators than ever before.
Whatever you do this weekend, wear a mask, keep social distancing, and get vaccinated if you’re able. Keeping yourself safe from the virus is the best way to honor and thank our teachers, our health care workers, and all our heroes on the front lines of this pandemic.
In addition to keeping safe, can you please do one thing for me this Labor Day? Please post on social media in support of the #NabiscoStrike and stand in solidarity with workers demanding fair hours, living wages, and respect and dignity in their workplace:
Thank you so much, and please have a wonderful and safe weekend,
-- Sarah
