Dear John:

Happy Labor Day - a wonderful day to honor and pay tribute to the contributions and achievements of workers across the country.

While our staff is out of the office today taking a break from our work, we never want to miss an opportunity to help you stay connected, with PFLAG Connects: Communities meetings for our Latino loved ones to important resources in advance of Suicide Prevention Week (Sept 5-11), with World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10th.

Enjoy your Labor Day!

Three Steps to Being a Better Suicide Prevention Advocate

You never know when someone you care about might be thinking about suicide and needs reassurance to get help. Here are some great digital resources and steps to take to help you be an advocate to prevent suicide:

  1. Learn: Learn about ways that you can help prevent suicide. Read some stories written by people who have been affected by suicide.
  2. Watch: On September 10th, tune in to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s all-day Facebook Live for World Suicide Prevention Day. Take a look at Something To Talk About Live! episodes about suicide and mental health. If you work with youth, here is a training from The Trevor Project on how you can be an even better ally for them.
  3. Share: Check out this page for some sample social media language to share with your followers. Follow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention on Instagram and Twitter. Be sure to always be mindful of your own well-being on social media.

Join a team to help us achieve equality for everyone, everywhere, at all times

The Equality Act is the closest a broad civil rights bill has come to passage in 30 years. Because we are so close on this, every senate office in the country is getting slammed with calls from people who do not support equal rights. But, there are millions of people like you who DO support equality--let's show them that Our Love Is Louder.

Join #TeamTuesday or #TeamThursday and we'll remind you each week to call, email, or Tweet your Senators to urge them to pass the Equality Act.
