Hi Friend, happy Labor Day!
Today, we celebrate the people who are the backbone of our state: working Texans.
From farmers to energy workers, folks in the service industry to frontline health workers, teachers to community leaders, and so many more, working Texans push our state forward every single day -- whether it’s keeping our towns and cities running, keeping our families safe and healthy, or keeping our communities strong. And today, just like in the past, the labor movement is a key voice for justice in our state -- as unions, organizers, and working folks continue to lead the fight for a better future for all of us.
This Labor Day, I’m incredibly grateful to have a President in office who puts working people first -- every single day. In just eight months, President Biden has put money in the pockets of working families with the Child Tax Credit, stood up for unions by backing the PRO Act, and created millions of new jobs. Our President is not just getting our economy and our country back on track -- he’s making sure that working Americans are front and center in the process.
Friend, that’s the kind of Democratic leadership we’re fighting for here in Texas. And whether you’ve rallied your community, made grassroots donations to Democrats, or had heartfelt conversations with your neighbors on the issues, you are doing the tough, important work that pushes this movement forward. So thank you for being a dedicated Texas Democratic supporter, and a voice for the future we need in this state -- a future where all of us can thrive.
I know it’s been an incredibly tough few weeks. Texas Republicans are waging an all-out war on working families -- whether it’s trampling on our right to vote and our healthcare access, putting folks at greater risk of getting sick from COVID, or even slashing workers' basic right to take a water break on a hot day. These attacks are the reason we fight. And I know if we keep standing together, we will turn the tide. Let's keep the fight going and keep pushing forward -- together.
Adelante,
Gilberto Hinojosa
