SAN DIEGO, Calif. — On Monday, Assemblymember Randy Voepel endorsed Brian Maryott and released the following statement:
"Brian's common sense leadership is exactly what we need in D.C. Every day, the headlines indicate the ever growing level of debt we will be leaving our future generations. Brian's financial experience is desperately needed in a time where our representatives see their constituent's hard earned money as a blank check. Brian also has a history of standing on the side of law enforcement, which is needed now more than ever. Here in San Diego we have seen the repercussions of criminals being released from prison and placed in our neighborhoods. I know that Brian will partner with us in our fight to keep our communities safe. I am proud to stand with Brian in his candidacy."
Republican candidate for Congress Brian Maryott responded, "I am extremely proud to receive Assemblymember Voepel's endorsement. Randy has been a strong advocate for law and order and consistently puts the needs of his community first. His support means a great deal to me."
Randy Voepel was elected to represent California’s 71st Assembly District in 2016. Before joining the Assembly, Randy served on the Santee City Council between 1996 and 2000, and then served as Mayor between 2000-2016. Randy is a Vietnam veteran, serving two tours in the conflict with the US Navy. After leaving the service, he worked nearly forty years in the insurance industry. Randy and his wife Susan live in Santee, where they raised their two children.
