Team,

Today we commemorate the workers who fought in the labor movement to improve the lives of working Americans.

The protections and benefits that we enjoy today would never have been possible without the labor movement. Social Security, paid sick leave, the 40-hour workweek, and weekends were hard-fought battles won through decades of organizing efforts from workers.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us just how essential workers are. From health care workers on the frontlines saving lives and postal workers delivering mail to grocery store and restaurant employees keeping communities fed -- workers have kept us going through the pandemic.

All workers deserve to be treated with dignity, protected from discrimination, and paid a living wage. As we continue working to end the COVID-19 pandemic, we need to prioritize rebuilding an economy that supports workers. That means raising the minimum wage, supporting unions, and fighting for paid leave.

It's a privilege to continue fighting alongside unions and working families for policies that improve the lives of workers.

Wishing you a happy and safe Labor Day,

Chris
