On this Labor Day, we recognize the sacrifices of those who built the labor movement and, in so doing, achieved important advancements such as employer-based health care, worker safety protections, the 40-hour workweek, and fair pay for overtime. The American labor movement makes life better for us all, and so we honor hard-fought progress this Labor Day.
As a fierce advocate for the protection and expansion of labor rights, I deeply value our nurses, teachers, skilled tradespeople, labor unions, firefighters, law enforcement, and working-class families.
We are all enriched by the contributions and achievements of the men and women who make our communities and our economy work.
Protecting American workers and strengthening their ability to organize in support of their collective interests and goals is more urgent than ever. We must renew our promise to the American worker and advocate for policies that respect the dignity of their work.
Thank you for your perseverance and commitment to serving our community. I wish you and your family a happy and relaxing Labor Day.
