📋 Today: Our Last Day of Action to Stop Cop City 📋

City Council is planning to lease 381 acres of forest to the Atlanta Police Foundation to build a massive private cop training facility!
Many residents are unaware of this undemocratic proposal - We're passing out literature and letting people know how they can get involved and have their voices heard!
We're flyering today at Freedom Park from 4pm until 7pm. No experience needed. Please wear a mask, and bring a friend!
If you're not able to flyer today, you can still help out by calling City Council and telling them to Vote NO on Cop City! Today is the LAST public comment period before City Council votes on the Cop City ordinance in tomorrow's meeting. Call in today 4-7 PM @ 404-330-6001!
After tabling Cop City on August 16th, Councilmember Archibong claimed the City would "work aggressively to make sure we correct the public engagement missteps, and do a much better job of making sure we are clear and making sure we have addressed the concerns.” But since the vote, the City Council has done absolutely nothing to solicit further community input. They want the public to forget about Cop City so they can pass the proposal quietly! But we won't let that happen: call City Council using our scripts at atldsa.org/stopcopcity/call

✊ DSA Raises $8,000+ for Striking Nabisco Workers ✊

Nabisco workers are on strike in Norcross! The workers of BCTGM Local 42 are striking and holding a 24/7 picket for a good contract and an end to international exploitation and outsourcing of jobs. See more from the union here: https://bctgm.org/2021/08/23/nabisco-workers-in-norcross-ga-on-strike/
These workers are running a 24/7 picket line at 6300 Brook Hollow Parkway, Norcross, GA 30071. Show up whenever and for however long you can! Follow the lead of the BCTGM workers and ask how you can help. If you're interested in helping, sign up to help at the picket line at atldsa.org/nabisco and our labor committee will reach out.
We've also organized an online fundraiser to financially support these striking workers who will lose their paychecks and benefits while on strike. Providing mutual aid and financial solidarity to our comrades while they're on strike is critical to keeping morale high among the union's rank-and-file membership - the longer they're able to stay out on strike, the more leverage they have to win a better contract. So far we've raised over $8,000 to support BCTGM Local 42! Check out the fundraiser and donate at atldsa.org/strikefund
