Texas Republicans just passed one of the worst voter suppression bills in the country -- in addition to the Supreme Court just allowing their hideous abortion ban to take effect. In the next few days many of those same Texas politicians are going to begin drawing the next decade's worth of maps to protect their own power!

Texas is the only state to be gaining two U.S. House seats, due to significant population growth among communities of color. But will Texas' new districts reflect that growth, or will they give even more power to the GOP? It all depends on what we can get done in the next few months.

NPR reports:

"Texas has a long history of violating the Voting Rights Act when it comes to redistricting. In fact, since the civil rights era law's passage, the state has violated it during every redistricting cycle."

Friend, we have to expect that Texas Republicans will try every possible trick to manipulate the maps to their advantage. And we have to be ready to fight back -- in Texas and in other states across the country.
