John,

By now, many of us know that New York is poised to lose a seat in redistricting this fall. As a result of this redistricting, our district — and the political landscape in it — could look different. Redistricting could also mean that Jamaal may face a primary challenge to his seat, especially as we slowly approach the fourth quarter of 2021.

And John, it's critical that we raise money to prepare for this possibility early for two key reasons:

1. Posting strong fundraising numbers will show everyone the strength of our grassroots movement — and potential challengers consider throwing their hats in the ring could be discouraged from doing so. 
2. But even if they do, we'll have the funds needed to go up against anyone who challenges Jamaal and win.

In order to do all this though, we need to see an increase in our fundraising in the coming weeks so that we can maintain our momentum, fuel the work ahead, and be as nimble as we can to tackle any issues head-on.
