On Wednesday, SB 8: Texas’ draconian six-week abortion ban went into
effect. Under the law, private citizens can sue abortion providers and
anyone else that helps people access an abortion. And last night, the
Supreme Court ruled in favor of the law.

Now the fight to protect abortion access and abolish the filibuster has
never been so urgent.

We need Democrats to step up and use their majority to end the filibuster
and codify Roe v. Wade as the law of the land. The Women’s Health
Protection Act will ensure all people can access the reproductive health
care they need — no matter what state they live in.

Without intervention from Congress, more state legislators will pass
anti-choice legislation targeting people’s right to a safe and accessible
abortion. Just look at the news from Florida:

filibuster and protect access to abortion has become even more critical.

We’re hearing a lot of lip service from establishment Democrats about the
implications of Texas’ abortion ban. But they are not helpless, and there
is something we can do about it. We need elected officials who will
abolish the filibuster to ensure that we can combat anti-choice
legislation across the country.
