Did you join our event on Thursday? Caroline Lucas MP, Kate Raworth (author of Doughnut Economics) and Richard Benwell (CEO of Wildlife and Countryside Link) gathered on zoom to discuss how our obsession with economic growth is destroying nature - and what we can do about it. Catch the replay here and sign the Wellbeing Economy petition here, calling on the government to make sure that we build an economic system that puts the wellbeing of people and planet before profit 🌎

As Greens we know that a thriving economy is one that takes care of everyone, not one consumed with endless growth. Instead, we need a 'Wellbeing Economy'. That is one that puts people and planet over profit. We must demand that the government shifts their focus. That is why we are asking you to sign this petition calling for a restructuring of our economic system. We need 100,000 people to sign it before the end of September, for it to be debated in parliament. Will you help us get there?

In the wake of the IPCC report, Green Peer Natalie Bennett said 'You can’t fix broken food, energy, or economic systems – let alone environmental systems – with the practices that broke them’, making the point that we need a complete systems change to save our planet. The Environment Bill presents a real opportunity to set standards for how we treat our planet and make sure that the government is held accountable for their actions. The bill is due to move to report stage soon and we don't have much time left to put pressure on peers, MPs and the public to make sure that we create a bill requiring the government to protect our planet by law. Will you sign our petition to help make that happen?

In 2019, Ecotricity declared a climate emergency. In their own words, that was because they 'exist to make Britain greener through energy, transport, food and giving land back to nature'. They are aiming to become carbon zero by 2025, an 'absolute brutal target which we aim to meet' according to Simon Pickering, Ecotricity's Principal Ecologist. That is why the Green Party is partnering with Ecotritiy - because we need everyone on board to make sure that we are building green energy grid for everyone. Read more about what Simon has to say about carbon neutrality and turning businesses green here.

Have a lovely weekend!
