Folks -- The 2020 Census shows that nearly all of the United States' population growth is driven by communities of color. We know that most people of color vote for Democrats. But because of last decade’s gerrymandering, seven out of the eight fastest-growing congressional districts are currently represented by Republicans.

POLITICO: The eight congressional districts that grew the most over the past decade were all in either Texas or Florida, mostly centered around growing cities such as Dallas, Houston and Orlando... All but one of those districts are represented by Republicans.

Gerrymandering has helped suppress the political power of communities of color in these districts. And the same thing could happen again in the current round of redistricting -- unless we give our all to the fight for fair maps!

The idea that the communities that are responsible for population growth could actually lose even more political representation is unconscionable -- and we’re fighting as hard as we can to stop it. As NDRC President Kelly Ward told Politico, "There’s simply no way for [Republicans] to add two more GOP seats in Texas without racially gerrymandering based on this census data.”
