Texas, Georgia, Florida, Arizona, Wisconsin, Montana, Iowa, Idaho, Alabama. These are states where GOP politicians were able to make it harder to vote. It was all possible because of the GOP's immense power, and now they're coming for California.
The GOP is on a winning roll. From passing all these voter suppression bills, effectively overturning Roe, and now we're seeing a series of promising polls saying they can take over Congress and the California and Virginia Governorships. Far-right Republicans are ready to take it all.
We are stuck in a cycle of voter suppression to implement far-right policies to more suppression to more far-right policies. The only way out of this cycle is by preventing more GOP victories. All of the GOP’s plans for winning involve lies and stealing elections. That’s why, right now, California is under threat of being taken over by radical right-wing politicians.
Yes, California is a blue state, but Republicans have taken advantage of the state’s recall rules to run a sham election that’s wasting taxpayer dollars and could result in a conservative taking over as Governor.
That’s right, John, Republicans might win.
Republicans know that low-turnout special elections like this are the only way they will win one of the most important executive branches in the country. Expanding vote by mail and fighting misinformation is the only way to stop this shameful GOP strategy.

After riling up a base of far-right voters with lies about Governor Gavin Newsom’s COVID response, the GOP started the process to take over this liberal state.
The recovery of the biggest economy in the United States is under threat; immigrants in California will be under a bigger threat of deportation; and there will be more attacks on the personal rights of women, LGBTQ+ people, and people of color. We will likely also see an attack on voting rights in California, so it becomes easier for other far-right Republicans to win in the state.
