John -- It’s widely expected that the Senate is gearing up for a vote on federal voting rights legislation very soon. But if we do nothing to combat the mischaracterizations of the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, reform will fail.

Every Republican senator voted to block the For the People Act when it was brought forward for debate, but Lindsey Graham, Rand Paul, and Ted Cruz have been some of the most fervent critics of the bill.

Our team extended our August end-of-month goal of raising $28,758 to September 5 to raise the last bit we need to help advocate for the immediate passage of federal voting rights legislation while simultaneously working against tight redistricting timelines in the states.

Will you chip in $30 right now? If you’re unable to donate $30 right now, you can contribute whatever amount is most comfortable for you.

Here’s a snapshot of what Lindsey Graham, Rand Paul, and Ted Cruz have been falsely saying about the For the People Act:

►Lindsey Graham: “H.R. 1 is an attempt by the radical left to take over every election system in the country… It would be in violation of the Constitution, in my view.”
►Rand Paul: “[The For the People Act] will be something that would lead to a great deal of less confidence. It’ll lead to a great deal of potential fraud if we do it that way. So, I’m going to do everything I can to stop it.”
►Ted Cruz: ‘It’s the single most dangerous piece of legislation before Congress. What I call H.R.1 is the ‘Corrupt Politicians Act’...It is a radical bill.” The myth of widespread voter fraud allows extreme partisan representatives in gerrymandered states to use that lie to justify voter restrictions and perpetuate weakened accountability.

Lindsey Graham, Rand Paul, and Ted Cruz know that. Yet, they and their Republican colleagues continue to use these lies as an excuse for opposing this bill because they’re worried about what would happen if everyone had equal access to the ballot box in fair districts.

Our team has yet to meet our now extended goal of raising $28,758 and only has a couple of days left to do it! Will you make a one-time donation of $30? September is going to be a wild ride for redistricting and we must prepare now.
