Here at DASS we work every day to expand voting rights, ensure all legitimate votes are counted, and fight back against discrimination and prejudice in our poll access.
Our nation is facing a reckoning about ex-felon voting rights. In many states, a felony sentence means a lifetime without voting rights, even after you’ve served your time.
A court in North Carolina just ruled to let more than 56,000 ex-felons cast ballots again. It marks the largest expansion of voting access in the state since the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and disproportionately affects voters of color.
