President Biden’s administration has declared the embarrassing military withdrawal from Afghanistan to be a success. On Tuesday, President Biden himself made this argument in his speech, continuing to blame others for the chaos, while taking credit for ending an “endless war.”
There’s a problem, of course, with Biden’s neat success narrative. The Taliban forces do not believe the war is over. Al Qaeda does not believe the war is over. Terrorist groups across the world do not believe the war is over. President Biden has removed our military and intelligence presence from Afghanistan, with little regard for the actual dangers that exist in this world.
Meanwhile, we have left Americans trapped in Afghanistan, along with thousands of our allies and Afghan interpreters and journalists who will surely meet a violent fate with the Taliban.
Please continue to call your two U.S. senators and your representative in the U.S. House to demand accountability and oversight. Thank you to everyone who has been calling Congress. Our voice is so important in the midst of Biden’s recklessness.
