Can you imagine a world where we invested in vaccines, not bombs?

The good news is, Congressman Mark Pocan has just released legislation that would do just that!

The COVID Defense Act would reallocate $9.6 billion in Pentagon funding to invest in global vaccine distribution. This shift in priorities could single-handedly double the number of global vaccines available.

Now that the United States has finally begun the long task of ending the forever wars, we’ve reached a critical turning point. We can either continue down the failed path of funneling money into the enormous, destructive, and wasteful U.S. war machine or we can radically alter course and invest in a peace economy. The COVID Defense Act is an important example of how much we could gain if we began to prioritize healthcare over U.S. militarism. Ask your representative to invest in vaccines not bombs! 

We must remain vigilant. The same politicians and media that lied us into the war on Afghanistan are now trying to use the same tactics to fearmonger about the “threat” that China poses to us, arguing that we must continue to increase our outrageously bloated Pentagon budget. We can’t let them win! The COVID Defense Act represents an important opportunity to show that we need global solidarity NOT U.S. militarism! Contact your representative now.
