American politics has a perpetually rotating villain: any time the majority party has enough votes to pass policies that would actually help the 99%, party leaders choose a scapegoat who will refuse to vote for those policies, thus killing the legislation.

The truth is that Democrats have control of the White House, Senate, and House and still refuse to kill the filibuster and expand the Supreme Court, so they can pass these policies.

Democrats like my opponent Derek Kilmer, the 13th most conservative Democrat in the House, will wring their hands, rake in the dollars, and say there’s nothing they can do.
