ORIENTING TO THE COLLECTIVE NOW/ALWAYS
We are sending care to those experiencing crisis right now.
As young people with access to wealth and class privilege, we are uniquely positioned to support movements fighting for environmental justice, reproductive justice, and against racial capitalism. Now is the time to show up with personal and collective accountability. This looks like:
- getting involved locally by supporting the leadership of poor and working-class led grassroots and community-based organizations, not just national organizations
- continue the work of building local chapters to bring new people into the long-term work of social justice
- make sure long-term multi-year giving is part of your giving plans (because although rapid response giving is real and needed, giving is needed all year round and long-term)

Staff transitions continue to be underway - thank you for your patience as RG enters our new phase!
The hiring committee will be announcing our next Executive Director and additional new hires over the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
LET'S USE OUR POWER TO STOP LINE 3
As RG members, many of us have unusual access to bankers and investment professionals who hold the future of the Mississippi Watershed in their hands. We are being called upon to use that access -- to make a call to our bankers and ask them to pull funding to the Line 3 Pipeline that would carry dirty Alberta Tar Sands oil across Ojibwe territory in violation of their treaty rights.
Does your bank fund Line 3? Find out here! We can jam their calendars, use our family names to get a meeting, and side firmly with indigenous leaders in this fight.
The pipeline is almost 90% complete-- we have a narrow window to join the movement, intensify our actions around the country to #StoptheMoneyPipeline and fight for our future.
If you're interested in organizing RG members to Stop the Pipeline and Defund Line 3, please email [email protected].
MEET RG'S 2021-22 STUDENT ORGANIZING FELLOWS!
In late July, RG welcomed five students and recent graduates into the second year of the Student Organizing Fellowship.

Brita, Emily, Olive, Eui Young, and Eva (left to right above) will work to support, deepen, and expand national college organizing over the next ten months.
Student fellows play a crucial role in organizing college students to move resources to social justice movements and participate in campaigns for change. If you have general questions about student organizing or the Fellowship, email RG’s College Organizer, keithlee (they/them) at [email protected]

High Net Wealth Praxis Applications OPEN!
Apply by Sept 7th
Resource Generation is thrilled to launch a new cycle of virtual praxis groups for young people with access to wealth.
- This will be an intimate, 10-month program in which you will develop a long-term giving plan, develop a network of peers with similar levels of assets, explore different giving models and deepen your skills and capacity to implement a social justice strategy in your giving.
- This round, we are launching two different praxis groups: one multi racial praxis group and one group for Ultra High Net Wealth members. We define high net wealth as anyone who has access to more than $1M or whose family has access to more than $10M.
- We define Ultra High Net Wealth as folks who have approximately 10M in personal assets and/or 100M in family assets. The groups will run September 2021- June 2022.

Unmasking Fidelity Campaign Relaunch Action Hour
Monday, September 13th 5ET/2PT

Join RG Boston and the Unmasking Fidelity coalition for a campaign action hour. We're excited to relaunch the Unmasking Fidelity campaign with new demands and broader visions for justice: DISCLOSE, DIVEST and REPAIR! If you missed the relaunch political education event, we encourage you to watch the recording in advance of this event.
Fidelity Charitable funnels millions of dollars through Donor Advised Funds to white supremacist, anti-Muslim, anti-Black, anti-LGBTQ, anti-immigrant organizations and institutions in the US. Some of these US-based and tax exempt entities also enable systemic violence internationally, from dispossession and violence against Palestinians to growing the global reach of Hindu nationalist ideology. RSVP here.
RG CHAPTER UPDATES
RG LA

This summer, RG-LA has been working on multiple projects around LA. Members have been working with the #investinTransLives Coalition to increase giving for trans-led organizing, while also working with Downtown Crenshaw Rising to support the Black-led organizing group fighting gentrification. As always, each member has shared numerous other projects and mutual aid efforts that we have continued to support. We were also able to meet for an in-person BBQ for the first time in over a year!
RG Austin
Austin RG is now halfway through with our 6 month praxis! We are learning so much and getting closer as a group. Looking forward to supporting some anti-police expansion efforts in Austin this fall as well as deepening our goals around redistribution in our community.
RG Colorado members Neal, Sophie, Raisa, and Kira have joined the newly re-formed RG CO leadership team in 2021 and held two engaging summer events. These events were focused on building community and we discussed topics like envisioning an ideal future, how class affects our family and chosen family relationships, our mental health struggles, how to discuss social justice/philanthropy with family, and our money stories. Additionally, we want to shout out Neal, who has been instrumental in our organizing efforts this year and will soon be joining RG's Chicago chapter! We're still rebuilding our chapter and encourage folks with CO links to follow us on online and check out Raisa and Neal's Redistribution stories on the City Cast Denver podcast.
NEW RG RESOURCES
Reparations & Redistribution
There are many different schools of thought around reparations and redistribution. For the purposes of getting clear on what we mean by those terms, members of RG's organizing team developed the following articulation of how we currently understand the similarities and differences between reparations and redistribution. Sharing it out as something to try on together and to be in dialogue and ongoing practice around. Check it out here.
RG Member Guidance and Pathways for Disagreement, Harm and Conflict Resolution
This resource was created by the RG staff and organizing team for members around types of conflict, tension, and disagreements that can emerge in chapters and some pathways for how to respond if/when they do. This is a living document intended to be tried out and changed as needed. There's a feedback form on the doc that you can fill out if you have thoughts on ways to improve, have questions or want to set up a call to discuss it.
Financial Professionals Database
We are excited to share our new and improved Financial Professionals Database, which includes 38 financial professionals (money coaches, financial advisors, investment advisors, a community of practice) who can support you towards your redistribution goals.
- These financial professionals responded to a questionnaire which clarified the values of their organization and assessed their approach and skills in supporting RG members to take action in alignment with the Redistribution Guidelines and the Transformative Investing Principles.
- In the Redistribution Guidelines, RG asks members and people in the wealthiest 10% of the U.S. economy to redistribute all or almost all inherited wealth and/or excess income to social justice movements and to divest from Wall Street any remaining inherited wealth and/or excess income and to reinvest it in accordance with our Transformative Investment Principles.
- Here are the questions we asked, and here is the full list of answers they offered.
- This list has been reviewed by RG’s Staff, including our High Net Wealth Coordinator, Transformative Investment Lead and Resource Mobilization Director against a list of 6 criteria listed above.
- It will be updated once to twice a year, and we are open to feedback on the organizations listed. Please contact Nora at [email protected] and Nadav at [email protected] with any questions and to share feedback about your experiences with these professionals and organizations, as well as if you are an organization and have questions about how you are listed.

MAKE A REDISTRIBUTION PLAN
It's always a great time to create or check on your redistribution plan.
We ask all RGers to make a plan to redistribute at least 7% of their assets and/or 10% of excess income. Here’s some examples of what that could look like for different situations!

Find the graphic and text on our membership FAQs page here.
Check out the Redistribution Guidelines to help you think through how much to give, make a concrete commitment and sign the Redistribution Pledge, and join or renew as a dues-paying member of RG!

***Want to know more about getting started? Check out this article, "How to Create Safety and Security Without Accumulating Wealth" by RG member and former RG staff Iris Brilliant. *If you have access to inherited wealth might be an especially helpful read. Since writing this article, she's been getting feedback 'that this is a useful tool in supporting inheritors to set up their lives to be able to move towards more of the 80-100% levels of redistribution.'

We encourage you to consider joining RG as a dues paying member, and if you would like to get involved in your local chapter, please fill out this intake form!
