On this beautiful Friday afternoon, I'm taking a minute to share with you a request for your help with the two biggest choices we face over the next 60 days for the future of Arlington, Virginia, and the 2022 midterm elections.
First, I ask for your help as we work to elect Terry McAuliffe Governor of Virginia. Terry was there at the start for us in our campaign in 2018. His race will have big implications for Arlington, Virginia, and yes, the country. If Terry wins, we keep common sense gun safety and continue to work on racial justice and economic opportunity. If his opponent, with his $75 million in personal money wins, we don't. That's true on issue after issue. Please help:
Terry McAuliffe and I in 2018 when he did an event for us very early in the campaign.
Second, I ask for your help for my colleague Takis Karantonis. As I think about the issues before the Board in July: collective bargaining and police oversight, Takis was a critical ally. On the environment and our progress on electric vehicles last month, he was also very important. So I ask you to join me at an event in South Arlington for Takis for Arlington County Board.
Nothing in life or in politics is inevitable and both of these people need your help: they will work for the Arlington and Virginia we believe in. Terry's election will also set the tone for 2022, so those of you not in Arlington, please pitch in. I have committed to raise $5,000. We are at $3,250 so far after Brooke and I and a growing number of friends have stepped up to help.
Why are you asking again, Matt?
Because we simply cannot do the work we need to do in Arlington and in Virginia over the next four years if Terry and Takis do not win in November.
Yours,
Matt ps. If you have questions about the event, please email me at [email protected].
