The Week in Review

Happy Friday!

The House was out of session this week despite the many pressing issues our country is facing. A disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan took the lives of 13 U.S. servicemembers and left the Taliban more empowered than ever. Moreover, despite the laundry list of issues facing Americans, such as a historic border crisis, rising inflation, and a surge in crime, Democrats are more concerned with partisan theatre. Unfortunately, that has become the status quo. However, I’ll never let it slow down the job I was sent to do. Read below to learn about the important happenings of the week:

Co-sponsor of Gold Medal Bill Honoring the
13 U.S. Servicemembers Killed in Action in Kabul

The events that occurred in Kabul, Afghanistan during our withdrawal are absolutely heartbreaking. We will never forget the 13 U.S. servicemembers who sacrificed their lives protecting the country we love and the ideals we cherish. May God bless their families and may their legacies always be remembered.

To pay tribute to their sacrifice, I co-sponsored my colleague Rep. Lisa McClain’s legislation that honors our 13 fallen heroes with Congressional Gold Medals. We must always remember that freedom comes at a high cost. Click on the photo below to read more:

Letter to Leader McCarthy Requesting
GOP Conference Rule Change

Thursday, I sent a letter to Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy requesting reconsideration of a GOP Conference Rule change that would remove members who accept committee assignments or serve on a committee without recommendation from the Republican Steering Committee or the Republican Leader. Accepting committee assignments from Speaker Pelosi and ignoring the long-standing practice of being nominated by designated GOP members is a betrayal to our party’s efforts against Pelosi and the Far Left’s attacks. As Republican Members of Congress, it is our duty to strategize effective measures that protect America’s foundational values. We cannot allow our party, which stands as a xxxxxx against the socialist agenda of the Democrats, to be infiltrated by individuals who are coordinating with members of the opposition. Our party’s integrity, and the voice of conservative Americans who voted for us, must be protected and upheld. Read the full letter by clicking below:

House Freedom Caucus Press Conference

As Chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, I led my colleagues in demanding accountability from the Biden administration for it’s inexcusable failures during our withdrawal from Afghanistan. The cost of war is high and we sacrificed far too much to accept the reckless withdrawal that led to the loss of 13 U.S. servicemembers and leaves the Taliban more emboldened than ever. Interview on Fox News

I joined Dagen McDowell on Mornings with Maria to discuss the need to hold accountable our leaders responsible for the disastrous withdrawal in Afghanistan. We must impeach Secretary Blinken, and President Biden, Secretary Austin, and General Milley must resign. Please click on the picture below to watch the interview:

Letter to Telecommunication Companies Regarding Democrats’ Request for Private Data

The January 6th Select Committee, orchestrated by Speaker Pelosi, has neither statutory nor constitutional authority to secretly demand phone companies to turn over their customers’ personal records. This power-hungry, smear-campaign of a committee knows this request is a blatant overreach of their congressional authority. Yet, they insist these companies make legally compromising decisions. If these phone companies give into this unconstitutional subpoena, they will forever set a precedent for the violation of all Americans’ privacy rights. That’s why I sent a letter to these phone companies warning against turning over their customer’s personal records. Click on the letter below to read it:

Letter to Dept. of Education Secretary Cardona
Regarding School Mask Mandates

Secretary Cardona’s decision to weaponize the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights to target states that have prohibited mask mandates in schools is as dangerous as it is foolish. The purpose of the Office of Civil Rights is to ensure equal access to education, yet Secretary Cardona is determined to use the office to attack states that are following the science in how they protect our children. The Biden administration will stop at nothing to impose its dictatorial agenda on the American people and has reached a new low in denigrating the purpose of the Office of Civil Rights. Letter to DHS Secretary Mayorkas
on Vetting of Afghan Evacuees

We have all watched the chaotic evacuation scenes play out in Afghanistan. It has raised serious questions on who is being brought into our country. We need to ensure that these individuals are being properly vetted and do not pose a risk to our communities. American safety must be prioritized. That is why I wrote a letter to Secretary Mayorkas asking several questions regarding the process and status of Afghan national evacuees now in the United States. What’s the Biggs Idea? Podcast

I was joined by Dr. Dan Stock who went viral after explaining to the Mount Vernon Community School Corporation in Fortville, Indiana, why their compliance with mainstream COVID-19 mitigation recommendations was contrary to science. Click on the picture below to listen in:
