Earlier this week, the Supreme Court refused to block the implementation of an incredibly restrictive new abortion law in Texas.

Make no mistake: in failing to act, the Supreme Court has made an unprecedented assault on women’s constitutional rights and is setting itself up to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The Texas law is unconstitutional — the right of women to make their own very private and very personal healthcare decisions was settled by the Supreme Court nearly 50 years ago. The longstanding precedent has been set and reaffirmed in case after case ever since.

When Trump jammed three ultra-conservative justices on to the Supreme Court, we knew it would only be a matter of time before the right-wing came for Roe .

Now, the Supreme Court is abdicating its constitutional responsibilities by allowing this law to stand and is endangering the health and well-being of millions of Texas women. And this decision will have far-reaching implications for women’s health across the country for years to come.

As President Biden said, Democrats will use every resource at our disposal to ensure women in Texas and across the country have access to full reproductive healthcare.
