The signs are still mostly promising that Gavin Newsom can defeat this far-right recall. Of five million ballots returned, Democrats are slightly overperforming Republicans.

But there are still 22 million ballots outstanding. Republicans, who generally distrust mail voting, may wait to show up in force in-person against Newsom -- tipping the scales toward Larry Elder.

If Larry Elder is elected governor, he's already pledged to end California's proactive COVID-19 pandemic response. No masks, no vaccine incentives, no support for working families to get back on their feet.

But here's an absolute worst case scenario: If Senator Dianne Feinsten retires or is unable to finish her term, Larry Elder would select her replacement and could end the Democratic majority in the Senate. Under no circumstances can we let that happen.

The stakes in this recall are just too high. We can't get comfortable now. We're coming up short of our $50,000 goal to crush the recall effort. Will you chip in a split $3 to Gavin Newsom today to stop Larry Elder from getting anywhere near the governorship?
