Last week, Congress passed the most meaningful voter rights legislation in decades: The John Lewis Voting Rights Act.

Protecting voting rights is critical to strengthening our democracy, and I’m proud of the Democrats in the U.S. House for advancing this legislation. Unfortunately, every single Republican voted against the bill, making their stance against voting rights as clear as day.

We can’t fix the extremism around us unless people can vote.

To many in the GOP like my lobbyist opponent, voter suppression, gerrymandering, and misinformation are part of their strategy to win, no matter the national implications on our democracy. Look no further than what is happening in Texas and the rampant corruption and extremism in our Ohio Statehouse.

Without Senate approval, our democracy is more vulnerable than ever. Our campaign is committed to fighting for working families across Ohio, and that includes protecting their voice at the ballot box.
