Hi,
Please join us as we prepare for World Cleanup Day and attend the
latest installation of our Earth Day Live series titled, Adopt
the Earth & Go Clean Up: Participating in World Cleanup Day and
Beyond on Thursday, September 9 at 12pm EST (GMT
-4).
By 2050, global municipal solid waste generation is expected to
have increased by nearly 70 percent to 3.4 billion metric tons. Less
than 20 percent of waste is recycled each year, with massive
quantities sent to landfill sites. As population, urbanization
and economic growth increase, how we manage our waste is becoming an
alarming issue that the world needs to address.
The Earth Day Live session will feature leading voices who have
dedicated their careers to protecting the environment and keeping
communities around the world clean. The panel will focus on ways to
make an impact on World Cleanup Day, current initiatives to keep our
public spaces clean and how to participate year-round with The Great
Global Cleanup.
The panel will be approximately 1 hour and hosted on Twitter,
Facebook
and YouTube and
on our webpage. By RSVP’ing, you’ll receive a reminder
with a link to view.
Current panelists include:
-
Matthew Lefler — Great Global Clean Up Director,
EARTHDAY.ORG
-
Steve Jewett — Founder and President, National
CleanUp Day
-
Jennifer Tabanico — President and Cofounder, Action
Research
-
Meg Carney — Senior Editor, CleanUp News
- Representative, Keep America Beautiful
We look forward to an engaging conversation on clean ups, success
stories/best practices and how to participate in World Cleanup Day and
beyond.
Best,
Matt Lefler The Great Global Cleanup Coordinator
