Dear John,
Hearing from you as well as meeting with businesses and community leaders across North Texas is one of the most important parts of my job.
This week, I was glad to host a telephone town hall where I answered your questions on our COVID response, vaccines and boosters, the humanitarian mission in Afghanistan, voting rights and other important topics facing our nation. I was joined by Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins, Dr. Trish Perl, Chief of Infectious Diseases at UT Southwestern and Dr. Roberto De La Cruz, Chief Clinical Officer at Parkland Hospital System. If you missed it, you can listen to the telephone town hall here.
I also had the chance to meet with Garrett Metal Detectors, a business based in Garland. They have been part of the Garland community for decades, creating jobs and making their products right here in North Texas. They even make the wands that help secure the U.S. Capitol. Businesses like Garrett Metal Detectors help power our local economy and I was so glad to meet them this week to discuss how we can work together to help manufacturing businesses like Garrett continue to succeed and create jobs in our region.

As our region grows, it’s so important that we keep up with the water needs of every community. That’s why I was glad to meet with representatives from the North Texas Municipal Water District to talk about their projects and how critical investments, like the Bipartisan Infrastructure Plan, can help them meet demand.
Moving forward in the coming weeks, I will be working in Congress to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Plan, a once-in-a-generation investment to create jobs, reduce congestion and improve our roads, bridges, transit and other critical infrastructure. I will also continue working on important legislation to make sure that every American has access to paid family leave, and to lower the cost of health care and prescription drugs.

I will always work with folks in both parties to put North Texas first. If you have any questions, or if I can help you with issues with a federal agency, give my office a call at (972) 972-7949.
It’s an honor to serve North Texas, where I was born and raised.
Sincerely,
Colin Allred Member of Congress
