** Nearly half of LGBT people behind on rent fear eviction within the next two months
------------------------------------------------------------

A new analysis of data from the Census Bureau’s Household Pulse Survey finds about 19% of LGBT renters were not caught up on rent. Nearly half of them (47%) fear they may be evicted within the next two months. LGBT people of color were more likely to be renters and to be behind on their rent compared to all other groups. Last week, the federal eviction moratorium, which has provided important protections to renters impacted by the pandemic, was invalidated by the U.S. Supreme Court.

** Access to gender-affirming care associated with lower suicide risk for transgender people
------------------------------------------------------------

In recognition of Suicide Prevention Month, the Williams Institute has released a summary of current data on suicide risk and prevention among transgender people. Our 2019 analysis of the 2015 U.S. Transgender Survey ([link removed]) found that access to gender-affirming care was associated with a lower prevalence of suicidal thoughts and attempts. An estimated 5% of transgender people who accessed gender-affirming care attempted suicide in the past year compared to 9% of those who needed care but did not receive it.
