Dear MoveOn member,

[ [link removed] ]Tell Congress to pass the Women's Health Protection Act.

This week the Supreme Court refused to stop the extreme Texas abortion ban
from going into effect by a 5-4 decision.^1 By refusing to halt the
implementation of the law, the Court gutted Roe v. Wade and abortion is
now all but completely banned in Texas.

With the Supreme Court’s action there is now only one real remedy to
protect abortion rights: Congress must act! The Women's Health Protection
Act (WHPA), which was reintroduced in Congress earlier this summer, would
stop extreme bans like the Texas law, and the Republican onslaught of
abortion bans and restrictions coming out of state legislatures across the
country.^2 Speaker Nancy Pelosi just announced that the House will be
taking up this legislation as soon as they come back from recess, so now
is the time to act.^3

Congress: Pass the Women’s Health Protection Act to protect access to
abortion for all Americans.

Abortion restrictions do not have equal impact. As Women's Health
Protection Act co-sponsor Rep. Judy Chu rightly highlighted at the bill
introduction, if you are wealthy and white, you will always have access to
abortion care. But that cannot be said for low-income women, LGBTQ+ folks,
or communities of color.^4 For millions around the country, access to
abortion is already a right in theory but not in reality. Abortion rights
are facing the most fraught attacks since Roe v. Wade was passed, which is
why we need a national law protecting abortion rights so urgently.

Equal access to abortion care everywhere is essential for social and
economic equality, reproductive autonomy, and the right to determine our
own lives.

The Women's Health Protection Act is federal legislation that works toward
building a future where all of us are free to make the personal decisions
that shape our lives, futures, and families, without political
interference.

[ [link removed] ]Show up in solidarity for our reproductive freedoms. Sign the petition
and tell Congress to pass the Women's Health Protection Act.

Thanks for all you do.
