Welcome to Dave Harden’s second campaign newsletter!!!

Read all about what Dave has been up to and where the campaign is going! But first, we've got a HUGE public FEC filing deadline at the end of the month. Can you chip in $5 to make sure we have a strong showing?

Dave in the News!

Dave grew up here, that’s why he understands the issues our district faces. He’s driven every single day to help solve those problems and it shows. Check out two Op-Eds Dave recently published.

The first one is on how to better align our economic policies to help the folks working on the Chesapeake who provide us with our famous crabs. Read it HERE.

The second Op-Ed is on Dave’s plan to combat the other epidemic in this country: the opioid epidemic. Read about it HERE.

Dave has had a slew of endorsements!

First, he was endorsed by Captain Robert Newberry, a high profile waterman whose community has been negatively impacted by the climate crisis, but has too often been left behind by politicians in Washington. Captain Newberry said, “Dave Harden understands that we are the stewards of the future and without our involvement, Maryland will lose its national treasure, the Chesapeake Bay.” We were proud to earn his endorsement.

Next, Dave was endorsed by Joyce Utz, a longtime colleague of his who has seen his work-ethic, compassion, and drive firsthand. They worked abroad together to build stronger communities and improve folks’ financial situations. That’s something Joyce knows Dave will bring to Washington and it’s why she decided he was the best person for the job.

Dave was most recently endorsed by Retired Navy Commander Robert Douglass. Commander Douglass, a Talbot County native, pointed to both Dave’s devotion to defending our democracy as well as his cultural connections to this district as the reason why he should be the one to replace Andy Harris. Commander Douglass said:

“Dave is from this district. He grew up on a farm near Westminster. He has deep family roots on the Eastern Shore. He understands our people, our culture, and the importance of our abundant farmland, the Chesapeake Bay, our schools and our business and community interests. He has served our country overseas, representing U.S. diplomatic interests in some of the most sensitive and dangerous posts in the world.

Most importantly, Dave believes that we need an economy that works for everyone. Our nation must build the infrastructure, provide education and training opportunities, invest in new technologies, and protect and preserve our natural resources so Maryland families can prosper in the decades ahead. And so do I.”

Dave was honored to receive each of these endorsements and will work hard to make good on his promises to our district.

Around the District

Dave has been travelling around the District to visit with voters, business owners, and organizations. Last week, he took a trip to the Slate Farm Brewery in Whiteford where he spoke with Kylar and Chris, the folks that make the beer we love to drink here in Maryland. Dave knows it’s critically important to make sure that our farmers and rural communities see the benefits from legislation passed in Washington just as the cities and suburbs do. As Dave says “No farms? No beer!”

Dave took some time to chat with Gina Simmons, owner and entrepreneur of “That Kitchen”, a food truck that provides catering to events all throughout Maryland and Delaware. It’s so important to Dave that help our small businesses recover from the financial strain of COVID-19 and give them a chance to get ahead.

Most recently, he visited “The Grove” where he spoke with small business owners about his plan to help them out in Congress. The Grove is Harford County’s agri-business incubator. It’s an outlet for local area farmers, artists, and food processors who sell their products directly to consumers. It also serves as a spot to actively promote agriculture commerce and sustainability in Harford County.

These are Dave’s people. He grew up here, he knows the area, and he makes real connections. That’s why folks trust him and it’s why he will be the perfect representative for MD-01.

Thank you to all our supporters

As we conclude our second campaign newsletter, we want to send a big "thank you" to our supporters who have already given so much time, energy, and hard-earned money to this campaign. Your positive impact on Dave and our campaign in just a few months out on the trail have made a world of difference and we can’t thank you enough.

There's still so much work to be done. As we mentioned in the beginning, if you’re able to help us finish our third quarter fundraising on a high note, please consider chipping in to Dave’s campaign today.

Thank you.
