John, abortion access is hanging by a thread.
Texas misogynists have had their devastating legislation upheld by the Supreme Court. S.B. 8 is a law that not only bans abortion after just six weeks, but also encourages vigilante anti-abortion extremism. It allows any private citizen — including STRANGERS — to sue anyone who helps someone else access an abortion after six weeks. And rewards them with $10,000 if they do so successfully.
By upholding this law 5-4, the Supreme Court has effectively overturned Roe v. Wade in Texas. They’ve set a dangerous precedent that other states will undoubtedly follow and jeopardized the fundamental right to an abortion for everyone, especially for BIPOC communities across the country who are already facing additional barriers to healthcare.
Join in solidarity by calling your senators, and if you can, donate to reinforce our defenses against vigilante laws that police our bodies.
