NO TO S.B. 8 in TEXAS and NO TO EXTREME ABORTION BANS

John, abortion access is hanging by a thread.

Texas misogynists have had their devastating legislation upheld by the Supreme Court. S.B. 8 is a law that not only bans abortion after just six weeks, but also encourages vigilante anti-abortion extremism. It allows any private citizen -- including STRANGERS -- to sue anyone who helps someone else access an abortion after six weeks. And rewards them with $10,000 if they do so successfully.

By upholding this law 5-4, the Supreme Court has effectively overturned Roe v. Wade in Texas. They've set a dangerous precedent that other states will undoubtedly follow and jeopardized the fundamental right to an abortion for everyone, especially for BIPOC communities across the country who are already facing additional barriers to healthcare.

Join in solidarity by calling your senators, and if you can, donate to reinforce our defenses against vigilante laws that police our bodies.

Since it's inception, NOW has fought for reproductive justice in our work to educate women and girls, empower emerging leaders and challenge inequity in the courts. We've prepared for this moment. Now we fight.

In Solidarity,

Christian F. Nunes

Act NOW

================================================

John,

On Wednesday a law went into effect in Texas that bans abortion just six weeks into a pregnancy. There are no exceptions in cases of rape or incest, and by the time someone finds out they are pregnant it'll likely be too late.

Politicians in Texas are denying vital healthcare in the name of policing women's bodies.

Will you donate now and fuel the fight for abortion rights in Texas?

Abortion providers in Texas and the ACLU filed an emergency application to block this law, but the Supreme Court has refused to block it.

NOW has been at the forefront of the fight to protect Roe since its inception, and that fight has entered a new era. We need feminists like you to sound the alarm and protect safe and legal abortion care.

This law effectively overturns Roe v. Wade for people in Texas. And we know it won't stop there. If this is not overturned, similar laws could be enacted in states across the country, disproportionately impacting marginalized communities.

We're in a critical moment in the fight to protect reproductive rights, and we need the strength of feminists like you with us for whatever happens next.

The fight for Roe is upon us and we need your help--are you with us?

Make your gift today.
