Yesterday, a draconian piece of legislation took effect in Texas, banning abortions after six weeks, and allowing private citizens to sue anyone involved in helping someone obtain an abortion.

These laws are shocking, devastating and dangerous.

And John, this could happen here in Virginia.

Because the Supreme Court decided not to take action to block this legislation, the fate of reproductive rights now lies in the hands of our Governors.

And John, when it comes to Virginia, there’s only one candidate who has vowed to fight to protect reproductive rights — that’s Terry McAuliffe.

With a conservative super-majority on the Supreme Court, it’s more important than ever for governors to be staunch defenders of the right to reproductive health care.

But Terry’s opponent Glenn Youngkin was caught on video admitting to his extreme right-wing views on reproductive rights. The extreme measures we’re seeing in Texas are exactly what Glenn has in mind when he talks about going "on offense” to ban abortion.

When Terry McAuliffe was governor, he stood as a brick wall as extreme Republicans repeatedly tried to pass bills to restrict abortion rights and defund Planned Parenthood.

With a conservative Supreme Court poised to strike down Roe v. Wade, the Governor is the last line of defense against attacks on abortion rights.

We absolutely can't let Glenn Youngkin be that person.
